SOME Capetonians braved the cold and slept outside on Saturday night to mark World Homeless Day and raise awareness about the plight of those living on the street.

The City of Cape Town is working with far south religious, civic, and non-profit organisations to establish a reward system for the homeless.

Since its launch in Muizenberg on Thursday 18 March, the new U-Turn service centre has begun work to turn around the lives of street people living in the areas stretching from Steenberg to Kalk Bay.

The homeless community in Muizenburg is mourning the loss of two of its members. Rasta and Chantel who passed away suddenly days apart from chronic illnesses. 

A good Samaritan, who became known for giving a homeless oupa a makeover two years ago, is now not only inspiring those living on the street but also bandiete and drug addicts.

At the age of 12, Phinius Sebatsane was confronted with a struggle no child should have to face. “I saw my mother being attacked by my stepfather,”
